Top 5 things to avoid when marketing on Facebook

Facebook has been around for donkey’s years (never thought we’d hear ourselves say that!) – so we’re all au fait with how to use it and what it’s all about right? Wrong! You may have been using it for years, but you could still be missing some easy tricks on how to maximise your business presence. After all, it’s no good having a shop window if people aren’t interested in looking in.

This article will focus on the pitfalls to avoid when using Facebook to market your wares, as well as how to make it work better for you. It’s a 3 minute read so let’s go!

While you’re here why not check out our other blogs and see what LeadSocial is all about?

  1. Forgetting your target audience

This may seem obvious but who are you trying to attract? A blanket approach often means you will miss the target altogether. Think of it as a foundation to build on – once this is nailed you can build your message and get it spot on.

  1. Letting messages go stale

We’ve all seen the old posts on social media that make you think “ugh, that is so last week, rolling eyes emoji”. It’s easy to lose track of your messaging especially when you are busy trying to run your business. LeadSocial are experts at managing your social media platforms – ask us howand get your messages looking on point and fresh.

  1. Information overload

There is nothing more off-putting than a news feed full of messages that bombard your potential customers. Using a few targeted ads can be much more effective than a whole bunch of ads trying to touch on everything. If it’s hard work people won’t bother reading it!

  1. Using the wrong advert type

So you’ve got your target audience in mind, now think about the best way to reach them. Facebook has a number of ways you can do this including videos, photos and slideshows. Also think about where you want the ad to pop up – use a desktop ad if you want to target the busy millennial that has a load of things on the go.

5.Ignoring comments, good and bad

If people are commenting, whether positive or negative, ignore them at your peril! You’ve got the hard bit sorted – people have seen your ad and they have taken the time to comment, so it’s polite to reply. Not only does it show you are interested in what they have to say, but it keeps things fresh and shows you care.

Phew!

There, that wasn’t so hard was it? Go get ‘em and see you online. If you enjoyed this blog, we have tonnes of others, so check them out. Here at LeadSocial we are a friendly crew who just want to see your business succeed, by taking all the hard work out of social media. Drop us a lineand check out what we do.
